Does IDEAS work under Linux? I know it runs under Solaris.

I have looked at a few of the CAM packages (None of the CAD Packages are
at a useful level for the work we perform here.) and the most promising one
crapped out when opening an IGS file. It did easily and quickly opened a
STEP file, but seemed to incorrectly render the surface data. So, I am
unsure how it would handle laying down cutter path on top of that.
It also had no easy to interpret (If you are familiar with CAD/CAM
Systems) buttons, pull downs and similar.
The Open Source CAD/CAM effort, while commendable just isn't ready for
primetime, from what I have seen. I do keep up hope that it will one day
reach a useful state.
Later,
Rob
