Ahhh -- not such good luck here :(
I upgraded from Kubuntu 6.06LTS to 6.10 Edgy on my work
laptop and it was /not/ easy. This is a Dell D610.
Things broke. Like dual processor support, wireless,
vpn, and others.
The web is rife with stories about the 6.06->6.10 process
not being as robust as it could be. Not really
surprising, as Edgy really includes at least a few whole
new subsystems, like the new init process and the
inclusion of network manager.
I finally did a clean install, which worked much better.
BTW, if anyone is interested, I have a /full/ writeup --
about 6 pages -- on how I configured for office work,
starting with booting from the CD.
Cheers,
Mike
