Unfortunately:

/dev/hda1	was mounted as /boot , ext3
/dev/hda2	was PhysicalVol00 and contained:

	LogVol00 , which was mounted as / , ext3
	LogVol01 , which was used as swap

So the /etc/lvm/backup/ that I would need is in the missing volume group :(

What's the open source equivalent of encase?
