Have her buy it, install it, secure it, and support it :)

I support more than a few family desktops, but they are 
all what I run.  They can run something else, but then 
they are on their own.  Sounds like this attitude is 
probably not an option for you :( ...

Could you share /why/ she wanted back?  Were there 
specific features or performance issues?

Also, is this with the latest OOo (2.1.x), or an earlier 
version?  Just curious...
