I, too, much prefer nVidia over ATi for video cards -- both in general
and for Linux (I'm an nV user since the original 1997-vintage 4MB
Riva) -- but we need to know what kind of video slot you have
available.  Please provide the brand and model number of the mobo so
we can help you better.

As a long-time computer tech, I do have experience with both nV and
ATi -- not to mention that   I'm forced to use an ATi card in
Ariel/Loki (my 2nd system) due to nV driver issues in WinXP on its
mobo.
