The only new games I've gotten recently have been Introversion's offerings.
The most recent other commercial game I received as a present was "Freedom
Force vs. The Third Reich", the U.K. edition. It had StarForce copy protection -
yikes! A full rootkit:

I ended up borrowing the U.S. version, which didn't use that scheme, and
applying a crack to that. I don't feel any moral qualms about this - money
was paid for the program. I'm not handing it out to others or anything. I
just don't want to give the game company full control over my computer.
