[mdlug] Wine run as root?

 Well, it was a permissions issue, but not with Wine's files. I'd copied
the game files over from my Windows partition and they were still marked
read-only. Once I'd fixed that everything ran fine.

 It still has an issue I've seen before, where exiting the game leaves the
screen at a lower resolution than I'd had when I started the game. Fortunately
I can just set up 'xrandr' to restore my preferred resolution.

 I'm going to have to experiment with some of the other games I have. Looks
like Wine has come a long way...
