While this could be a minor problem,  it's unlikely to be a major one.  I have 
a home-directory that's been used by Slackware, several releases of Debian, 
and RedHat,  and the worst thing that happened was that some gnome-panel 
applets didn't show up after an incomplete upgrade of the same distribution.
