[mdlug] Fedora Core 6 install problems

Hi:

I downloaded the FC-6 install CD's. I tried a fresh install. It won't 
boot, as it looks for missing init files. I have /boot as /dev/hda1, 
swap as /dev/hda3, and the rest as /dev/hda2. As a fix, I created 
/etc and /root directories on /dev/hda2 before the install; they are 
recognized by the FC-6 rescue disk, but the installation disk writes 
nothing to them, not even any install.log file as it says it did. The 
grub configuration file points to the right places. /dev/hda is a 
27MB disk, and I tried various combinations of LBA on/off, to no 
avail. The older Red Hat 6 installed properly on this machine. Any ideas?
