[mdlug] Ubuntu: Erratic keyboard repeat

I've been encountering a problem with a uncontrollable keyboard repeat
in X, ever since Dapper.  While testing out a bunch of old hardware
with Edgy Eft (6.10) but only on a SiS530/5595 system using a
K6-2/350MHz.  In my case, replacing the generic kernel (which includes
SMP support with the basic i386 kernel solved the problem.  There is
