 Nope, that doesn't appear to be the case. I checked last night and it's
just gone, there's no "handle" on either side of the window. There's just a
list of messages for their 'Inbox' folder, and a preview pane below that.

 Anyone with better Google-fu than me, or experience with this sort of thing?

There isn't a handle on the folder "box" you just grab the bar between the two pains.
But when the folder list is pulled "closed" the border on the left gets wider than that of the right border.
