Perfect. I bought myself one. A D-Link WNA-2330 for $63.59 out the door
at CompUSA.  I plugged it in then booted up my old laptop (using SUSE).
 The "ACT" light started flashing.  I got a message about new hardware
found.  Started into some configuration (Yast) screens.  Then I checked
the iwconfig results - before I even tried to save any configuration. 
The iwconfig showed an IP in the proper range.  By now the LINE light
was flashing. I connected without a problem.

So, I don't know why the configuration page came up but, again, I
didn't need to do anything.  Great.
