I forgot to mention that he is typing IP addresses into the browser window (for popular sites like news.google.com etc.) to avoid any possible DNS issues.<BR>

Also, since I do not have access to his home machine I cannot provide the details. I was just curios how it is possible for him to access the first page but not therafter.<BR>

The first thing that comes to mind is DNS issues. Did he have static DNS
server addresses set on the router? My pppoe deamon get DNS dynamically
from ATT. Currently:
search ameritech.net
nameserver 68.94.156.1
nameserver 68.94.157.1
It is the simplest to set your local systems to get their DNS from your
router.

The ppp deamon making the modem connection is probably getting proper DNS.
