[mdlug-newbie] Looking for assistance - we want to help

Thank you for the quick response.  My home box is a self built AMD box and
went with the X-FI card since I have a decent audio system connected to it.
Once I started dabbling in Linux, I found to my dismay that Creative is
catering to M$ but this is good news going forward.  My first goal is to get
audio on my laptop...but that's what the 2nd Saturdays are for.  I hope to
be there depending on my schedule and will bring the laptop.

 Looks like they are going the closed-source route instead:

 ...but apparently it'll support ALSA. I'm not an audiophile so I'm
happy with my SBLive that gets the sound job done.
