You can use any GSM handset w/Gophone. I use a Moto X. Use
the one you have. You can buy unlocked handsets from the Google
Play store
<https://play.google.com/store/devices/collection/promotion_50000c5_partner_us>,
from Motorola
<http://www.motorola.com/us/consumers/shop-all-mobile-phones/>,
Overstock.com
<http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Unlocked-Cell-Phones/GSM,/carrier,/3012/subcat.html>,
and so on.
So called prepaid plans can be activated in a few minutes at an
ATT company store or online. The sim is free in store. You'll
need to know what size sim you have. Once activated it's good
for a month, after that you must refill it or it goes away.
Your existing number can be ported. I use the $60/month plan
which is $64.75 with tax. No other fees/surcharges etc. I
usually don't go over the 2.5GB limit, but if I need to I can
add 1gb for $10 as many times as I want. The plan I have is
unlimited talk/text, but you can add minutes to plans that are
not. I manage my account online and usually leave two months
refills in my account, so if I need more data it's just a quick
call to the automated call center. That's it. It automatically
renews if there is enough money in my account.
