I've got another good one. Someone cracked into my wife's iTunes
account last weekend, and bought ~$200 worth of stuff. Apple would not
do anything whatsoever about the downloads or purchases. "Dispute it
with your financial institution."
We disconnected accounts, changed passwords, and so forth. The disputes
are progressing. But that was just rude.
And their software is horrible. You can "authorize" a computer with
iTunes, so that you don't need to enter your password when purchasing.
But "deauthorizing" is another story. You have to be at that computer to
do it. We noticed that we had 3 computers authorized that morning,
instead of just one. But how to deauthorize these other schmucks?
Well, after some searching, we discovered that there *is* an option to
"deauthorize all computers". But not so fast - that option doesn't
appear *until and unless* you've reached the limit of 5 authorized
computers. So we actually had to authorize two *more* computers in order
to deauthorize the hackers. I shudder to think what would have happened
if we didn't have access to a couple more computers for this purpose!
Sincerely,
