I'm planning on upgrading from my Treo 650 soon. From my perspective,
there are three potential candidates: the Palm Pre, the Motorola Droid,
and the iPhone.

 The iPhone's out for reasons like this. (And that leaves aside the fact
that you need to develop on a Mac, *and* pay $100 for the SDK!)

 The Palm Pre's interesting... but there's no simple, automatic
migration of my data from my Treo to the new WebOS platform. So the fact
that it's from Palm is of no particular importance here, aside from
sentiment. But I'm not sure I want to use Javascript as my primary
development language, and I'm not sure Palm has staying power. Wish it
weren't so, but...

 Then there's the Droid. Not as open as I'd like, but open enough. The
hardware supports USB host mode, believe it or not.

screen, etc. I know what *I'm* going for.
