"A place for members to discuss anything they want, subjects not
appropriate for any of the other lists."
According to the list description, this discussion's appropriate to this
list so I don't see the rationale for excommunication, especially given
the relatively civil tone of the proceedings.

You didn't look up Dilawar like I asked you to.
Don't set tasks for me. If you've got a link, insert it.
Also, as I wrote, the section to which you referred in the Geneva
Convention was, in fact, ambiguous. The ambiguity was resolved in a
different section and did not support the impression you were trying to
convey that Geneva Convention protections were not being extended to
legitimate combatants in Iraq by the American military.
The only conclusion I can draw then is that you were either being
disingenuous or credulous. If it's the former then I can reasonably
expect more of the same. Not an interesting prospect. If the latter then
you've been made aware of the dishonesty of the sources to which you
give credence.
In any case, the discussion is becoming academic as shown by the
secondary status the Iraqi war now enjoys in the Democratic primary. The
war's clearly moving from the phase in which dissolution of the
newly-formed Iraqi government is a possibility to the phase in which
that government asserts control over its borders and internal security.
At that point it's no more an American domestic political issue then the
troops in South Korea are an American domestic political issue.
