 Ah, I see. The "elites" you were referring to were the ones in favor of a
war, and they didn't want to hear anything from left-leaning protestors who
didn't like it. I can see how that is, like you claimed, *precisely the
ironic opposite* of the situation *today*.

 You made a claim about the origins of the practice of "free speech zones",
and when it was pointed out that the claim was false... you shifted to
*justifying* the practice without actually acknowledging that your orignal
claim was incorrect.
