Ray and Robert have it right. There's nothing wrong with seeking
"realism" in a fantasy setting. Just because you're changing some
facts, and maybe altering a law of physics or two, doesn't mean you
have to throw everything out the window. Internal consistency is the
most important factor in fantasy "realism".
